Help Wanted: STAFF

We here at Sogen Con are working hard to bring you the best possible convention experience.  To do this, we need a team dedicated to help with this goal.  Staffing has many rewards, and at the end of the weekend, the greatest reward is knowing that you have helped hundreds of attendees have an amazing convention experience over the weekend.

We need your help to achieve some pretty lofty goals for 2012.  Any who are interested in staffing, please look at the following list of openings.  Some will be for department heads, some for department staff, and some for just general floating staff to plug up some holes!  There are some restrictions, however, so this decision should not be taken lightly.

Staffing the convention is not a “free ride.”  All of our staff pays to get into the convention, just like an attendee.  The staff does, however, get a discounted rate.  I know that this may seem unfair, but by purchasing my badge, I know I am helping support a convention that I hold close to my heart, and would hope you would feel the same.  Staff also does pay for their own lodging at the convention, but we can help you find potential room mates for the weekend that will help lower the cost.  Staffer will put in many long hours, but that is not saying you will see none of the convention.  Every staffer gets time off to enjoy themselves as well.  Staffers can participate in many of the events of the convention.  One item of question however is the Masquerade.  Yes, a staffer can participate, but due to conflict of interest, a staffer is unable to compete for prizes in said competition.  It is much easier to avoid any potential conflict by limiting staffers to just a walk on role.  Staffing is a labor of love, there is no question of that!

Cosplay & Masquerade (Department Head)

Cosplay and Masquerade (Staff)

Operations (Department Head)

Operations (Staff)

Artist Alley (Staff)

Dealer Hall (Staff)

Registration & Raffle (Staff)

Security Team (Staff) - (Experience preferred, but can be trained)

Volunteers (Staff) - (Not the same as being a Volunteer, but helping direct Volunteers)

Table Top Gaming (Department Head)

Table Top Gaming (Staff)

Video Gaming (Staff)

General Staff (Includes back up badgers, Gophers, Utility Staffer).
